Homeless veterans are more likely to die on the streets than non-veterans
Since 2013, Veterans Project & The Family Assistance Campaign has provided free food assistance to more than 20,000 Veterans and their family members, distributing 445,000 lbs. of food. Feed Our Vets mission is to help Veterans in the United States, their spouses and children, whose circumstances have left them on the battlefield of hunger, and to involve the public in fighting Veteran hunger, through: (1) Community food pantries that provide regular, free food to Veterans and their families, (2) Distribution of related goods and services, (3) Public education and outreach.

I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHAT IT IS WE NEED TO HELP US HELP OTHERS IN THIS GREAT ENDEAVOR

I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHAT IT IS WE NEED TO HELP US HELP OTHERS IN THIS GREAT ENDEAVOR

I am Joseph Barber,Master carpenter and Builder, and all around adventure of life.I was a soldier for some time hard job but yet wonderful quite the education you might say, love the Ocean and anything to do with it. Listen to how we speak about freedom and you'll gain tremendous insight into our true attitudes about freedom and, therefore, our relationship to one another I am and author of sorts and write articles for what I call FREEDOM OR ANARCHY,Campaign of Conscience in our world today so many have forgotten those truths that have made us free  “They say you can’t change the past despite the fact it never stops changing you – but that doesn't mean we have to sit back and take it. It may change us, but we have ultimate control over how we let it.”

We started The project and the family assistants campaign in DEC 212 2012 after two of our friends and our son committed suicide on the same day since then we have been doing everything possible to help those in need citizens and veterans alike we help far more veterans than non vets it seems the word has got out if your a vet and need some one with a frame of reference then go see Doc thats a nickname  I got while serving in the United states Army, ,short story on that we were serving in northern Africa at the time and one of my fellow troopers was wounded by a shot gun blast and are medic had been killed the day earlier so by the use of a field medical manual, I sealed the wound and kept him from bleeding to death when then humped him out to a safe zone and to satiety he survived and the nickname set it seems for life many who know me say I can fix any thing except a relationship hahaha but it seems I am having a challenging time getting people to see what we are doing and the importance of it this is so important to me I have given most all I have ever made in to it and I will not retreat at this point we have personnel experiences of the type of trauma many of our troopers and countrymen and women are suffering and the VA and governmental agencies fail to see the truth in the words of those they say they are helping and they are not a good example yesterday Suzanne went to the va to get some help with her injury's that she had been seen by a doctor at the emergency room her in victorville 37 stitches and two broke bones and her ring finger and may  be lost for life time will tell that and yet after 9hrs at the va hospital; in loma linda California she was not seen and had to set and appointment ,this is just one example as for others they stem from not only my own experiences of PTSD and the trauma it causes but the reasons I have such issues my self and how I have been able to except these issues as a part of my life and to live m,y live productivity if that is what YOU WANT TO CALL IT  WE ALSO HAVE MANY FORMER VieT NAM VETS THAT SPEAK WITH ARE PEOPLE AND THOSE OF THE NEW WARS AS WE CALL THEM THE CONSIDERATIONS WARS.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX LIVE OUTSIDE THE CAGE

Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.” You have a right to live. You have a right to be. You have these rights regardless of money, health, social status, or class. I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHAT IT IS WE NEED TO HELP US HELP OTHERS IN THIS GREAT ENDEAVOR SINCE 2013,WE HAVE BEEN SELF FUNDED AND IT HAS COST ME EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER WORKED FOR AND HAVE MANY WILL SAY WHY DO YOU NOT JUST GIVE UP WHY HAVE YOU ALLOWED YOURSELF TO GIVE UP EVERY THING FOR ANOTHER JUST KNOW THIS ABOUT ME AND MY FAITH When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'. “I am a strong Christian. Not a perfect one—not close. But I strongly believe in God, Jesus, and the Bible. When I die, God is going to hold me accountable for everything I've done on earth. He may hold me back until last and run everybody else through the line, because it will take so long to go over all my sins.” Honestly, I don’t know what will really happen on Judgment Day. But what I lean toward is that you know all of your sins, and God knows them all, and shame comes over you at the reality that He knows. I believe the fact that I’ve accepted Jesus as my savior will be my salvation,

IN THIS  ENDEAVOR I HAVE SET MY SELF AND OTHERS ON THE THINGS WE NEED AND CAN USE EVERYDAY!!!! THAT ANSWER IS EVERYTHING THAT YOU CAN THINK OF WE CAN USE FOOD, CLOTHES ANY AND ALL TYPES OF GOODS TO BUILD OUR URBAN SURVIVAL PACKS THAT WE HAND OUT TO THE WEAK AND THE POOR AND MONEY IF POSSIBLE THESE FUNDS WE USE FOR THINGS LIKE IDENTIFICATIONS AND BUS PASSES FUEL RESOURCES FOR THOSE WORKING OR NEEDING TO GET TO THE DOCTOR AND BACK ,I ASK THIS OF THE CITIZENS AND PATRIOTS TO STAND TALL AND FREE (CALL IT LAWFUL REBELLION STANDING FOR WHAT IS RIGHT )-BOOKS EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL, I FEEL IF WE CAN HELP THE MINDS OF THESE SOULS THAT HAVE FOR WHAT EVER REASON LOST THEIR WAY AND FAITH WE CAN BEGIN TO HEAL THEM AND THE WORLD,UNDERSTAND MY COUNTRYMEN AND WOMEN "I don't know how to save the world. I don't have the answers or The Answer. I hold no secret knowledge as to how to fix the mistakes of generations past and present. I only know that without compassion and respect for all Earth's inhabitants, none of us will survive - nor will we deserve to."I believe that to meet the challenges of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not just for one self, one's own family or one's nation, but for the benefit of all humankind. Universal responsibility is the key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace WALK WITH ME I WILL TAKE THE PAIN FOR US ALL YOU HAVE TO SUFFER NOTHING BUT A LITTLE OF YOUR TIME AND COMPASSION FOR ANOTHER, IF YOU HAVE THE LOVE AND COURAGE TO STAND WITH ME YOU WILL NOT REGRET YOUR TRUSTING IN OUR ENDEAVOR AND FINAL GOAL OF A SOCIETY OF NON VIOLENCE AND WE WILL SHOW THE WORLD HOW TO END HUNGER AND HATRED AMONG THE WORLDS INHABITANTS

WE ARE OUR brother's keeper.

A little about us...VETERANS PROJECTThe Family Assistants Campaign
We run this non-sectarian, non-partisan organization to ignite discussion on our world and in our communities, to educate our world about the injustice of aggressive violence.

We believe that in order to reach out to our peers most effectively, we cannot stand on religious arguments alone, and we cannot adhere entirely to one political side in our currently polarized culture. We believe that the consistent life ethic is not for any one religious group or for any one political position, but rather for everyone dedicated to human rights, life and dignity.

No matter your reason for believing in the inherent value of human life, we hope you can join us, and through our efforts we can together endeavor to make violence unthinkable -

LAWFUL REBELLION STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT

A man is either free or he is not. There cannot be any apprenticeship for freedom
“We cannot have peace if we are only concerned with peace. War is not an accident. It is the logical outcome of a certain way of life. If we want to attack war, we have to attack that way of life.” “The problem after a war is with the victor. He thinks he has just proved that war and violence pay. Who will now teach him a lesson?” “No Big Power in all history ever thought of itself as an aggressor. That is still true today.”

There is no way to peace; peace is the way.

When the typical reformer or revolutionist proclaims the new order, he goes on to urge men to organize, agitate, get out the vote, fight. Jesus also proclaimed The Kingdom of God [i.e., the revolution] is at hand; but immediately added in true prophetic fashion, Repent. That is to say, if we are to have a new world, we must have new men; if you want a revolution, you must be revolutionized. A world of peace will not be achieved by men who in their own souls are torn with strife and eagerness to assert themselves. In the degree that the anti-war or pacifist movement is composed of individuals who have not themselves, to use Aldous Huxley's phrase, achieved detachment, who have not undergone an inner revolution, it too will experience the same failure to achieve self-discipline, integrity, true fellowship among its own members which has afflicted other movements for social change.

“It is the responsibility of intellectuals to speak the truth and expose lies.” and many do but at a price of being placed on a watch list or to be detained hounded and arrested held and with out due process they are the heroes those whom have chosen to speak out at any cost from veterans to soldiers to the citizen
STAND AND BE COUNTED

“You can not be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it.” “I'm for truth, no matter who tells it. I'm for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I'm a human being, first and foremost, and as such I'm for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.”
“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” THE POWER IS WITH YOU “To me, the thing that is worse than death is betrayal. You see, I could conceive death, but I could not conceive betrayal.”
WE LIVE IN AND DEMENTED WORLD TODAY
“Usually when people are sad, they don't do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change.” IF WE CAN GET PAST THE LIES WE ARE TOLD IN THE MEDIA AND ITS INDOCTRINATION OF THE WORLDS PEOPLE “If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.” “The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.”“So early in my life, I had learned that if you want something, you had better make some noise.” LOVE AND PEACE PEOPLE STAND FREE AND YOUR GROUND FEED ANOTHER IF YOU CAN

Anyone is welcome to use their voice here at FREEDOM OR ANARCHY,Campaign of Conscience.if you seek real change and the truth the first best way is to use the power of the human voice and unite the world in a common cause our own survival I believe that to meet the challenges of our times, human beings will have to develop a greater sense of universal responsibility. Each of us must learn to work not just for oneself, ones own family or ones nation, but for the benefit of all humankind. Universal responsibility is the key to human survival. It is the best foundation for world peace,“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world...would do this, it would change the earth.” Love and Peace to you all stand free and your ground feed another if you can let us the free call it LAWFUL REBELLION standing for what is right

“And when I speak, I don't speak as a Democrat. Or a Republican. Nor an American. I speak as a victim of America's so-called democracy. You and I have never seen democracy - all we've seen is hypocrisy. When we open our eyes today and look around America, we see America not through the eyes of someone who has enjoyed the fruits of Americanism. We see America through the eyes of someone who has been the victim of Americanism. We don't see any American dream. We've experienced only the American nightmare.”

Countering Negative Stereotypes of Veterans

Countering Negative Stereotypes of Veterans

Some time ago, an aspiring novelist visited my office to get some information for a book she wanted to write. The plot? An afflicted Veteran involved in a gruesome murder. . . .

And I said, oh, please.

But I have said that a number of times over the years, on numerous occasions. Some examples:

While attempting to persuade media to cover a VA official’s speech to a Veterans’ group, I was asked by one newspaper editor if I could assure her that her photographer could get “pictures of old men in funny hats.”
A Philadelphia Inquirer reporter posted an inquiry on the Internet asking for “sources to talk about the thousands of Vietnam veterans who languish away in VA hospitals across the country.”
Readers exchanged barbs about World War Two Veterans in the Rocky Mountain News. Here are some sample comments: “Finally! I’m sick of the drunks from the VFW. . .” and “When will World War Two vets quit asking for more? When the last one is mercifully dead.”
An executive from a chain of local radio stations visited our office for a “get to know you” meeting. Several minutes into it, she voiced her concern over the “millions of homeless Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.” (Millions? In fact, there aren’t quite one million Veterans from the Iraq and Afghan campaigns together–let alone one million homeless, Veteran or otherwise.)
In the past several decades, we have seen Veterans face an obstacle that is weaving into the American psyche–unjust stereotyping.

If you were to ask a group of VA employees–or the members of any Veterans Service Organization, or their families–what words come to mind when they hear the word “Veteran,” chances are they would say things like Duty, Honor, Sacrifice, Service.

Sadly, if you were to base your opinion of Veterans on entertainment media, and even some news media, you would instead come up with these words: homeless, sick, addicted, a menace to society–or all of the above.

Entertainment media have, over the years, made a highly negative stereotype of the Vietnam Veteran, and they have followed this up with negative portrayals of more recent Veterans. That portrayal is at odds with the facts.

There’s no doubt that there are many Veterans who have problems and need help. But Veterans are more than that–they are young, old, successful, famous, they are neighbors, friends and relatives–they are very much like the rest of America. Unfortunately, if you went by the preponderance of popular portrayals of Veterans, you could easily conclude that you would not want a Veteran in your neighborhood, or you would not want to hire one, or work for one.

Some media have even attacked Veterans benefits as needless coddling. Columnist William Safire once wrote a series of columns blasting VA and Veterans benefits. Others have called Veterans benefits “welfare.” The result of all this is an alternating image of Veterans as a group of hopeless wrecks or a group of pampered beneficiaries–and sometimes people hold both contradictory images as true, without thinking about the contradiction. These images, however, are at odds with reality.

There can be no doubt that many Veterans are suffering, many need our help. But it is wrong to label our 23 million-plus Veterans as objects of pity. Consider just a few facts–Veterans on the whole are:

Better educated. In particular, 89 percent of Veterans age 25 and older have a high school diploma, compared to 81.6 percent of the general population. In addition, 25 percent of Veterans age 25 and older have at least a bachelor’s degree, compared to 18.9 percent of the general population.

Better paid. Veterans earn more than their peers. The median income for Veterans is five percent higher than the median income for the general population.
Less likely to suffer poverty. Overall, 5.6 percent of Veterans live in poverty, compared with 10.9 percent of the U.S. adult population in general.

Stable. Seventy percent of the most-stereotyped Veterans–Vietnam Veterans–are married and have children. Of about 23 million total veterans, 107,000, or less than one-half of one percent, are homeless. (And may I add, therefore, that ending homelessness among Veterans is clearly an achievable goal.)

Successful. Many U.S. Senators and Representatives, successful business leaders and entertainment celebrities are Veterans. Some of them are former VA clients or patients.
These are our Veterans. These are our heroes. We are all–not just America, but the world–better off because American Veterans have drawn breath. Let us now forsake stereotypes in favor of facts. Let us recognize Veterans for who they are–the successful as well as those who need our help. They deserve our help. They also deserve our respect.

As the President said in December 2009:

“. . .the plain fact is this: The United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens. . .The service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform has promoted peace and prosperity from Germany to Korea, and enabled democracy to take hold in places like the Balkans. We have borne this burden. . .because we seek a better future for our children and grandchildren, and we believe that their lives will be better if others’ children and grandchildren can live in freedom and prosperity.”
Thank you, and thank a Veteran today.

2016’s Shocking Homelessness Statistics

2016’s Shocking Homelessness Statistics

Later this month, The San Francisco Chronicle will lead an effort to flood the Bay Area with stories and news reports on the city’s homelessness crisis. Working with local television, print, and online news outlets, this coordinated effort will create a wave of coverage about this pressing issue, hopefully forcing the public and area politicians to put some major energy and resources into finding real, lasting solutions.http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/16/us/san-francisco-homelessness.html?_r=0

Are you a homeless services organization? Our free Homeless Services eBook is full of expert advice that comes from years of helping human services organizations.
http://www.socialsolutions.com/resources/homeless-services-ebook/?blog_CTA=true

For many cities, solving homelessness is an ongoing challenge. So, what does homelessness look like in 2016? The following statistics are alarming:

564,708 people in the U.S. are homeless. According to a recent report, over half a million people were living on the streets, in cars, in homeless shelters, or in subsidized transitional housing during a one-night national survey last January. Of that number, 206,286 were people in families, 358,422 were individuals, and a quarter of the entire group were children.
http://www.endhomelessness.org/page/-/files/2016%20State%20Of%20Homelessness.pdf

83,170 individuals, or 15% of the homeless population, are considered “chronically homeless.” Chronic homelessness is defined as an individual who has a disability and has experienced homelessness for a year or longer, or and individual who has a disability and has experienced at least four episodes of homelessness in the last three years (must be a cumulative of 12 months). Families with at least one adult member who meets that description are also considered chronically homeless. As the National Alliance to End Homelessness explains, “While people experiencing chronic homelessness make up a small number of the overall homeless population, they are among the most vulnerable. They tend to have high rates of behavioral health problems, including severe mental illness and substance use disorders; conditions that may be exacerbated by physical illness, injury, or trauma.”

47,725, or about 8% of the homeless population, are veterans. This represents a 35% decrease since 2009. Homeless veterans have served in several different conflicts from WWII to the recent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Washington, D.C., has the highest rate of veteran homelessness in the nation (145.8 homeless veterans per 10,000). 45% of homeless veterans are black or Hispanic. While less than 10% of homeless veterans are women, that number is rising.

1.4 million veterans are at risk of homelessness. This may be due to poverty, overcrowding in government housing, and lack of support networks. Research indicates that those who served in the late Vietnam and post-Vietnam era are at greatest risk of homelessness. War-related disabilities or disorders often contribute to veteran homelessness, including physical disabilities, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury, depression and anxiety, and addiction.

550,000 unaccompanied, single youth and young adults under the age of 24 experience a homelessness episode of longer than one week. Approximately 380,000 of that total are under the age of 18. Accurately counting homeless children and youth is particularly difficult. The National Alliance to End Homelessness explains, “Homeless youth are less likely to spend time in the same places as homeless people who are in an older age range. They are often less willing to disclose that they’re experiencing homelessness or may not even identify as homeless. They also may work harder to try to blend in with peers who aren’t homeless.”

110,000 LGBTQ youth in the U.S. are homeless. This is one of the most vulnerable homeless populations. A substantial number of young people who identify as LGBTQ say that they live in a community that is not accepting of LGBTQ people. In fact, LGBTQ youths make up 20% of runaway kids across the country. Family rejection, abuse, and neglect are major reasons LGBTQ youth end up on the streets. Additionally, homeless LGBTQ youth are substantially more likely than heterosexual homeless youth to be victims of sexual assault and abuse. LGBTQ homeless youth are twice as likely to commit suicide compared to heterosexual homeless youth.

Fifty percent of the homeless population is over the age of 50. These individuals often face additional health and safety risks associated with age. They are more prone to injuries from falls, and may suffer from cognitive impairment, vision or hearing loss, major depression, and chronic conditions like diabetes and arthritis.

830,120 year-round beds are available in a range of housing projects. About half of those beds are dedicated to people currently experiencing homelessness. This includes
Emergency Shelters that provide temporary or nightly shelter beds to people experiencing homelessness.

Transitional Housing that provides homeless people with up to 24 months of housing and supportive services.
Safe Havens that provide temporary shelter and services to hard-to-serve individuals.

The other half of these beds are targeted at recently homeless populations. Rapid Rehousing provides short-term and medium-term rental assistance, housing relocation, and stabilization services to formerly homeless people experiencing homelessness. Permanent Supportive Housing provides long-term housing with supportive services for formerly homeless people with disabilities. Other Permanent Housing provides housing with or without services, but does not require people to have a disability.

As shocking as these statistics are, there are so many great organizations working tirelessly to end homelessness in the U.S. and around the world. Get inspired by their work and success, continue reading some of the Social Solutions case studies that feature clients who work with the homeless population!http://www.socialsolutions.com/resources/?cat=housing&type=case-study&f=1

Real Men, Real Women drink coffee made and delivered by Real War Vets

Black Rifle Coffee Company: Looking to hire 10,000 veterans

Real Men, Real Women drink coffee made and delivered by Real War Vets

No one can really say for sure what global chain Starbucks will be serving up with their coffee when they hire 10,000 refugees in response to Donald Trump’s temporary travel ban in Making America safe again. But we know it won’t be patriotism or loyalty to America.

The ever-politicking Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz pledges to hire 10,000 refugees to get even with President Donald Trump and his Stinkin’ Army of Deplorables.

Black Rifle Coffee Company (BRCC) , an up and coming, veteran-owned gourmet blend coffee business has countered Starbucks by announcing they will be looking to hire 10,000 veterans.

Bravo, BRCC!

Real Men and Real Women drink their coffee fresh, hot and black.

They order their “freshly roasted, badass coffee, delivered to their doorsteps every month” from Black Rifle Coffee Company.

That way they don’t risk running into the mainstream media lined up for their early morning frappés while getting their start on another good day.

Most everyone loves their java, including Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the long-running NCIS, whose omnipresent coffee cup reads “HOT FRESH COFFEE.”

Unless you’re at Starbucks, coffee is coffee, and anything added to it besides cream and sugar, like butterscotch and mocha, makes it dessert.

Few can attest to the get-up-and-go available from straight-up, brewed at the camp fire coffee than the American cowboy, who still fills up on it before trying to keep cattle from grazing on acres of Bureau of Land Management grass.

BRCC brews the kind of coffee folks like to drink straight up.

…”We need to keep in mind that the four things we care about at BRCC are Family, Business, Veterans and country. And when we say “country”, the taxpayers. Everyone else can take a hike.” (FoxNews, Feb. 2, 2017)

“The fact that we are spending billions of dollars on ungrateful refugees while we have homeless and jobless veterans is unacceptable! Shame on Starbucks for putting refugees before veterans and other Americans looking for work.

“Hiring veterans is a wonderful way to show support to the men and women who proudly serve our country. This is what America is all about! We must take care of our own! You can support Black Rifle Coffee Company by visiting their website and purchasing their gourmet coffee and apparel here!

“BRCC also received a lot of support from people on Twitter who were pleased by their decision to hire 10,000 veterans.”

Leave the frills and frappés to Starbucks where Snowflakes sip on their ‘Smoked Butterscotch Frappuccino’, dreaming endlessly of better days to come when no one can hurt their ultra sensitive feelings by just being a Laurie Roth brand of “REAL”.

There’s no ‘Vanilla Bean Frappuccino’ served up by the Black Rifle Coffee Company.

That’s largely because there’s NOTHING VANILLA abut the Black Rifle Coffee Company where real coffee is being sent out by REAL people to REAL people.

When—and if—the day ever comes where 10,000 refugees are serving up coffee to Starbucks clients then they will need Trump administration vetting to make sure nothing harmful to coffee drinkers is ever put in the brew.

Why take a chance that the oneupmanship of CEO Schultz doesn’t stop at hiring 10,000 refugees but wanders beyond into other dangerous new territory?

Long live Black Rifle Coffee Company for keeping coffee, coffee and keeping it REAL.

Long Live all other companies who build on businesses by hiring War Vets and other people who can’t find work.

Meanwhile, we need our vet-brewed, vet-delivered coffee because there’s a war on out there.

Increasing numbers of returning military personnel: according to the Mass. Dept. of Veterans’ Services, approximately 31,000 service members have returned to the Commonwealth
Between 529,000 and 840,000 veterans are homeless at some time during the year.2
On any given night, more than 300,000 veterans are living on the streets or in shelters in the U.S.
Approx. 33% of homeless males in the U.S. are veterans.

Veterans are twice as likely as other Americans to become chronically homeless.
Veterans represent 11% of the adult civilian population, but 26% of the homeless population, according to the Homeless Research Institute.

Veterans are more at risk of becoming homeless than non-veterans
The number of homeless Vietnam-era veterans, male and female, is greater than the number of soldiers who died during the war.

Primary causes of homelessness among veterans are:
Lack of income due to limited education and lack of transferable skills from military to civilian life (especially true of younger veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan)
Combat-related physical health issues and disabilities
Combat-related mental health issues and disabilities
Substance abuse problems that interfere with job retention
Weak social networks due to problems adjusting to civilian life

Lack of services.and still we the people silent or ignore these facts and those who have served we the people no matter the cause they have done what they were asked to do !! and any one can say that there is nothing I can do but there is you can help another with your time if you do not have that find a group that helps veterans or the homeless it is not all that hard to give of yourself if you are truly a PATRIOT OF THE UNITED STATES @veterans project we can feed a person for 2 days on a $10 contribution and with a $25 contribution we can build a personal survival pack for an individual Government Alone Can't Take Care Of Our Veterans

"One organization or one government can't support the entire veteran population in the way that they need — not after over a dozen years of war with thousands of military families sacrificing,"
"But if more people pull together and take a more active approach, we'll get a lot more done."
"We have to change our thinking,"
"We can't expect our government to be the whole part and parcel of being the caretaker of men and women in the military."

Supporting the troops is not a political position, but a community responsibility. It comes down to awareness. Because less than one percent of the American population serves in the military, the majority of the country isn't attuned to veterans' everyday needs."That's a staggering statistic when you think that less than two million people defend over 300 million people,"
"So naturally there's going to be a massive part of the population that's going to have no clue as to what military service is about and what the families go through... The military serves in war, and you go to the mall."

Hundreds of non-governmental agencies provide various veterans services and all can use contributions of time, money or goods.I advocates for compulsory military or Peace Corps service for young people as a means of raising awareness of veterans' contributions."If you do that, in less than 10 years, you've created a whole generation of Americans who've had a shared experience of contributing to this country,"

While it is acknowledges the approach might be radical, the result would be a greater understanding of the sacrifices made by service members and their families. But it doesn't have to be so extreme. Just thinking about making a gesture of thanks is a good first step,https://youtu.be/NBR-eGtr4Po
